If I were to describe my first interaction with this holster, a good word would be “skeptical”. Not because of its appearance, but because of the claim proudly displayed on the packaging that says, “The Original True Multi-Fit Holster, Fits Over 150+ Handgun Models”. Sounds too good to be true, right? What appears to be just a claim at first, quickly proves to be accurate.
After sliding the Stealth Operator Compact onto my belt I was very surprised at how snug the holster contoured to my body. The holster’s belt loop design creates a close, secure fit. Being compact, the holster is hardly noticeable when on my belt by itself – it is actually smaller and much lighter than my iPhone 6 Plus.
The first firearm I seated into the holster was a Springfield XD-S 9mm. Not knowing what to expect, I was surprised at how easily the handgun slid into retention, complimented by the click of the frame-lock. While holstered, I jiggled the weapon, which had no wobble or play.
The holster was also very comfortable with the added weight and was easy to conceal under an untucked shirt. I continued to wear the duo for the entirety of the day and was completely comfortable.
When drawing the firearm, a simple tug upwards and slightly forward matching the holster angle released the retention easily. Having the weapon on the hip also makes drawing quick, unlike shoulder holsters, ankle holsters, etc.
The Stealth Operator Compact seems ideal for concealed carry or private citizen carry, and is great for those who carry often and would like to have the ability to change out different weapons without changing holsters.
The second firearm I tested in the Stealth Operator Compact was a Glock G17 Gen 4. Just like the Springfield, this model handgun fit exceptionally well. Extremely smooth with a responsive frame-lock. Every other aspect was comparable to my experience with the Springfield.
Just for fun, we also tried a Glock 19 Gen 3 which, as expected, fit perfectly. In addition, we had a customer purchase one the other day for an FN FNS9, and had a similar experience. He noted how hard it is to find a holster for that firearm, especially in a left-handed model.
After holstering and drawing each weapon numerous times, I never noticed any abrasion to any of the firearms. The outer finish of this nylon holster features a pebbled texture to guard against glare, and the inside is completely smooth to protect your weapon’s finish.
Although we weren’t able to try all 150+ firearms this holster claims to carry, I will trust the company’s list of models that fit the Stealth Operator Compact. They also say on their website that if your firearm is not listed that “just means it hasn’t been tested”.
