*Handle Finishes
Price range: $25.00 through $150.00
Blasted: The handle scale is blasted with a fine media to produce a consistent matte finish. This removes any scratches or “snail trails” and adds a slight amount of texture to a knife’s previously smooth handle. Will show new scratches that occur during use.
Tumbled (Stonewashed): The handle scale is tumbled with an abrasive media to produce a “worn” look. This will help hide scratches that occur during use, but will not remove previous scratches.
Blasted + Tumbled (Stonewashed): The handle scale is first blasted with a fine media, then tumbled with an abrasive media. This removes previous scratches, and adds an even tumble pattern.
Faced Flats: The flat surfaces of your handles are passed over a high speed belt sander that creates a highly polished effect. This is not like a mirror polish – grind marks can still be seen with surface facing. Flat surfaces only.
G10 & Micarta Dye: An easy way to permanently change the color of your G10, Micarta, or FRN/GFN handles. This process requires careful consideration of dye color choice vs. original material color. NOTE: Black handles cannot be dyed another color, however, colored handles can usually be dyed black. Please call us to discuss dye work 916-476-5094 10am-6pm PST.
Orange Peel Texture: A very dynamic textured finish that can be applied to titanium and some other metals (call for inquiry). A wire wheel is used to create a dimpled surface similar to an orange peel.
Patina: A forced patina is applied to the handle (copper or brass) to produce a surface finish resembling years of use and carry. The end result will be a unique finish to each and every piece.
Anodization (Flame): Usually darker in color hue, the flaming process creates browns, purples and blues on titanium. Colors and patterns of color are not easily controlled, so the result can be organic and vary greatly.
Anodization (Electric): This method is much easier to control consistency, for solid and precise colors. Use Voltage Chart to select voltage and type your chosen voltage in the ‘Notes’ section during Checkout.
Anodization (Electric Fade): Use Voltage Chart to select voltage range and type your chosen range in the ‘Notes’ section during Checkout.
Chemical Warfare (Heat + Acid) Anodization: This process creates a random organic pattern of “lightning” over a field of fiery blues, oranges, and purples. Chemical Warfare can be done on matte or polished surfaces, however, the results are very different between the two finishes.
Distressed or Multi-Tonal: Choose two colors from the Voltage Chart, one higher than the other. The higher voltage color is the field and the lower is the accent color. The field is distressed using an emory board or other technique and the second color is applied to the distressed areas. Type your chosen voltages in the ‘Notes’ section during Checkout.
*NOTE: A $25 fee applies to any item that requires disassembly and reassembly. Price stated is for loose parts only. Not all services require disassembly. Many services can be combined to create outstanding finishes for both aesthetics and durability.
